What does a free water analysis include?
Waterhouse’s free in-home water analysis tests for hardness, iron, pH, chlorine, TDS, and other common Eastern Iowa water concerns. Results are reviewed with you on-site, and we explain what each number means for your home — without any obligation to purchase.
How long does a water test take?
A standard in-home water analysis typically takes 45–60 minutes, including the consultation. More comprehensive testing for specific contaminants like nitrates or bacteria may require lab analysis with results returned within a few business days.

What’s the difference between a water softener and a water filter?
A water softener removes hardness minerals (calcium and magnesium) through ion exchange, replacing them with a small amount of sodium. A water filter removes other contaminants — sediment, chlorine, nitrates, etc. — through physical or chemical filtration. Many homes benefit from both.

How do I know what size water softener I need?
Softener sizing depends on your water’s hardness level, household size, and daily water usage. A Waterhouse water analysis measures all of these factors and allows us to recommend the right Kinetico model for your home — not too small, not oversized.

Is reverse osmosis water safe to drink?
Yes. Reverse osmosis filtration is one of the most effective methods for improving drinking water quality. RO removes a broad range of contaminants and produces consistently high-quality water for drinking and cooking.
Can I use a drinking water system with well water?
Yes, but the right pre-treatment depends on your well water test results. High iron or hardness levels may require pre-treatment ahead of an RO system to protect the membrane and maintain performance. Waterhouse designs well water treatment systems with this in mind.

Yes. Waterhouse services most major water treatment brands in addition to Kinetico. If you’re having a problem with your current system, regardless of brand, give us a call.
How often does a water softener need to be serviced?
Kinetico softeners are designed for low maintenance, but an annual check helps ensure optimal performance. Waterhouse offers maintenance plans and will inspect your system, check salt levels, and verify performance during each visit.
